"We've all felt pain from people hurting us and we often hold onto this emotional energy." Joanne Victoria spoke this poignant sentence when she shared with me about early attachment trauma that impacts our lives today.
According to Thomas Hubl, trauma is an overwhelming experience or situation that has an effect in our bodies, our emotional world and our rational minds.
We may feel hurt and insulted by others and unable to forgive them. When we feel triggered or annoyed by someone, it's a sign for us that a hurt from a younger place in us has been awakened. This becomes an opportunity for us to look inside ourselves and notice what emotions are arising for us.
Anyone who has suffered a grievous hurt knows that when our inner world is badly disrupted, it's difficult to concentrate on anything other than our turmoil or pain. When we hold on to hurt, our relationships suffer.
We are the remedy for our own hurts. We have the ability to heal ourselves. Just as pain is inflicted in the relational space so too our healing comes through compassionate listening and gentle exploration with someone we trust in a safe space.
Our sense of safety and security in the world impacts our emergence and who we become. Our relationships are our greatest source of challenge and joy. Nourishing and cultivating them form the foundation for meaningful contribution in the world and a life that truly matters.
Forgiveness is about goodness. It has the power to heal us and allow us to move on in life with meaning and purpose. Forgiveness matters, and we are its singular beneficiary.
Value and trust yourself by bringing awareness to your personal processes and if need be work with a professional who can help you shed light on patterns of behaviour that no longer serve you, broaden your perspectives and create new solutions and possibilities for your challenges.
